Purveyors of gourmet sweet & savory snacks, Funky Chunky, appointed the team at Cherry Digital to help increase brand awareness and generate press coverage for the brand nationwide.

An intelligent man, Jacques Torres, once said, “Life is short, eat dessert first.”

Funky Chunky wanted to increase awareness about their exciting gourmet snack service and gain SEO backlinks for the site.

We created a fun press release that gave an inside scoop into the official state sweet snack by state, as voted for by locals. We surveyed 3,800 Americans to find out if they were to choose an official sweet treat to represent their state, what would it be?

These results were illustrated in an interactive infographic where viewers could view the top 3 treats locals voted in for each state and compare.

Among popular favorites like brownies, ice cream and doughnuts emerged interesting local treats such as Alaskan Eskimo Ice Cream – the modern version of which is made with vegetable shortening, sugar, water or snow, berry juice and mixed berries. New Mexicans voted for Sopapillas with honey – sweet fried pastry topped with powdered sugar and a drizzle of warm honey.

This was a highly successful digital marketing campaign and we achieved great coverage including Chicago Tribune, KXNet, 6News, Sunny 98.1, KSON Radio, M Live and Tulsa World.
